Title: User Matching for Autonomous Vehicle Co-ownership Programs

Abstract: This talk will discuss how autonomous vehicles will reshape the way we own and use vehicles. The number of people using ride sourcing services in the U.S. has increased to more than 1.3 million, and transportation network companies (TNC) like Uber are offering ride sourcing services in more than 60 countries. To compete with TNC, some car manufacturers like Ford and Audi are testing the concept of vehicle group leasing as a new form of car-sharing in Bangalore, Stockholm, and a few other locations. This movement of fractional ownership, co-ownership, or co-leasing will be expedited with the rapid development of autonomous vehicle technologies. This talk will address how users participating in such co-ownership program can be matched to jointly own or use vehicles. We propose and compare models based on stable matching and maximal matching.
